A lot of people complain about laptop djs these days, staring into their screen from atop the stage having their shit 'beatmatched for them' but this evolution of it that Baths presents just brings the uniqueness (noone will ever hear that precise coordination of sounds again) and performance back into a live electronic set, something you don't get with mixing vinyl. So yeah I've heard that Katey B song 7 times this festival already, so what if its a different face behind the decks playing it?
With people like Baths and his Akai and Daedelus with his Monome I'd love to see a trend set of a new type of live performance from the electronic world. It personalises the music for the crowd, something live acoustic music has always had, I believe this use of new technology should be embraced into the electronic music scene.
